Un ve irmik fabrikaları dışında buğday, mısır ve benzeri tahılların işleme tesislerinde, yem fabrikalarında, karışık yemlerin nihai elenmesi ile öğütülmüş malzemeler içinde kalan büyük taneli mısır, ezik pelet yem, arpa, yulafın elenmesi ve benzeri işlemler için çeşitli gıda ürünleri işleme tesislerinde kullanılır.

Bu makine un fabrikalarında valsten gelen üründe yapışık öz parçacıklarını ayırmak için kullanılır.

Kepek üzerine yapışık ve içinde kalmış un taneciklerini ayırarak, hem un kaybını önler hem de verimi artırır. Ürün yatay olarak dönen rotor üzerindeki özel paletler sayesinde, eleğe doğru savrulurken unun kepekten ayrışması sağlanır. Merkezkaç hızla yönlendirilmiş olan ürün, gözenek büyüklüğü önceden seçilmiş eleğe çarpar. Böylece, un taneciklerinin elek dışına, kepeğin ise içerden çıkış kanalına yönlendirilmesi sağlanır.
