Our grafted walnut sapling production, started at 1990 in Sahil Yenice/Bandırma, officially institued as Fikir Fidancılık with a view of a quality and trustful service in 1996 after our continuously enlarging production Fikir Fidancılık has increased its production to 200.000 grated walnut saplings per year and our aim is to increase this quantity and give appropriate and sufficient service to our customers. We also started producing blue certificate saplings and aim to develope this number. We realise our production for the original walnut saplings grown in our region according to our contracts. The university of California introduced the Chandler Walnut in 1979 and named it after with Chandler, Professor of Pomology, at U.C. Davis. Today it is the most prominent variety grown in California. The Chandler Walnut is large, smooth and oval shaped with a good shell seal. Chander Walnuts are known around the World and are highly prized by buyers for their extra light and high quality kernels. Harvested mid to late season. Chandler Walnuts provide one of the highest kernel yields of any of the varieties. An excellent new French variety, late leafing, precocious flowering, lateral fruiting and blight tolerant. Late ripening, large fruit of excellent quality; light coloured, easily extracted kernels which store well and have excellent flavour. In France, yields of 1 tonne per hectare at 6 - years - old and 4 - 5 tonnes per hectare when mature are typical. Average vigour and semi erect habit also suitable for hedgerow systems (4m*8m). Quite fruitful. It has fruits 2-4 together. Thin in shell. Easliy broken and taken from the shell. Quite appropriate for cold climates can be planted in high altitude from 50 to 1800 meters. Starting from the areas that are sea level, it is a fruitful walnut type can be planted in the ares that are 1800 meter high. Because of its genetic features, Fernor walnut would not get affected by spring and autumn frost in high altitudes. Since the female flowers bloom in the beginning of May Fernor walnut tree would not get affeceted from late spring frost. And in autumn, Fernor walnut tree has its time to rest until the beginning of November. And this means the closure of new shoots. This is why not only late shoots but also other parts of the tree would not be affected by early frost in autumn. During winter, frosts up to -25 and -35 degrees do not harm Fernor walnut tree. It is a type of walnut tree that is highly durable to cold weather.
