Traditional French variety. An important variety especially because it is a pollinator for Chandler. Trees grow strong and vertical. Leafing date is 26-27 days after Payne.

A French variety developed in the 1980s. Early fruiting, lateral bearing variety. Because the tree structure is moderately strong, its canopy is small. Suitable for hedgerow planting. The color of the kernel varies from white to amber, depending on the region in which its grown.

A very good pollinator for Chandler, Howard, Lara, and Fernor varieties. Its origin is Patagonia. Very late bloom, 3 days before Franquette, and the long male flowering period around 23-25 days.

A variety developed by the University of California. A hybrid of Serr x Tehama. Leaves are out 12 days after Payne. Laterals bear fruit in the proportion of 70-80%; light-colored kernels proportion is 80-90%. Trees are medium strong vertical development. Especially well-suited to hedgerow systems.

An advanced selection of paradox hybrid (Juglans hindsii x Juglans regia). The VX211 has high vigor and moderate resistance to phytophthora.

An excellent new French variety, late leafing, precocious flowering, lateral fruiting and blight tolerant. Late ripening, large fruit of excellent quality; light coloured, easily extracted kernels which store well and have excellent flavour. In France, yields of 1 tonne per hectare at 6 - years - old and 4 - 5 tonnes per hectare when mature are typical. Average vigour and semi erect habit also suitable for hedgerow systems (4m*8m). The university of California introduced the Chandler Walnut in 1979 and named it after with Chandler, Professor of Pomology, at U.C. Davis. Today it is the most prominent variety grown in California. The Chandler Walnut is large, smooth and oval shaped with a good shell seal. Chander Walnuts are known around the World and are highly prized by buyers for their extra light and high quality kernels. Harvested mid to late season. Chandler Walnuts provide one of the highest kernel yields of any of the varieties.
